Darcie Little Badger is an Apache Writer and Creative who has written award-winning books Elatsoe and Shein Linde. After our CDI book club read Elatsoe in November, we are bringing Darcie to campus to give a reading from Elatsoe. This reading will give students a behind the scenes look at Darcie’s process of crafting Elatsoe, the ability to ask questions about their work, and learn how their Apache heritage influenced the creation of the Indigenous characters in the story.
This reading aims to strengthen students’ ability to:
- Engage in cultural appreciation and learn about Indigenous culture.
- Critically think about the craft of writing and story structure and ask questions about the process of writing a novel.
- Community building will occur by bringing together both Indigenous students, as well as students interested in learning about Indigenous stories and culture.
